The events fill up quickly, so please follow up and/or opt to get alerts when we post! Complete an application! Once you’ve submitted your application, our canine team will reach out in a few days to confirm your approval and match you with a dog! IF you have a specific dog in mind, please note that on your application. If that pup is already matched, we’ll help you pick another deserving dog for your outing. Dogs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to change (i.e., a dog gets sick, behavior changes, etc.). What Is Dogs’ Day Out? This program lets community members take one of our adoptable dogs out of the shelter for a day filled with fun and exploration! You can: Take them for a hike or a park stroll. Treat them to a pup cup at a drive-thru. Visit a dog-friendly store for a shopping spree. Create your own adventure—the possibilities are endless. Requirements: A reliable vehicle where the dog can be safely restrained or crated for transport. A valid driver’s license to be copied at the shelter. Participants must arrive at 9:00 a.m. at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter – York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406. Basic safety and handling instructions will be provided before you leave. Important Details: Participants will lap around our facility with their assigned dog to ensure comfort and handling. Dogs must be returned to the shelter by 4:00 p.m. After the event, please complete a "Dogs' Day Out" report card to share how your dog enjoyed their adventure.
