    Our shelter is open for public browsing hours Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 12 – 4:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Our shelter is also available by appointment, Sunday – Saturday, from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Every animal at the YCSPCA deserves a loving, permanent home. From our adventurers to our cuddlers and couch potatoes, someone is waiting for you at the York County SPCA.       🐾 Clear the Shelters Adoption Event 🐾 📅 August 15 & 16, 2026 🕙 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM 📍 York County SPCA 🏡 Find your new best friend during Clear the Shelters! Join us for this nationwide adoption event dedicated to helping shelter pets find loving homes. During this special two-day event, adoption fees will be waived for all adoptable animals six months of age and older! 🎉 🐶🐱 Kittens and puppies under six months of age will still be available for adoption at their regular adoption fee. Every adoption creates space for another homeless animal in need. ❤️ 📋 Event Information ✨ Adoptions are first come, first served. There will be no holds and no regular adoption appointments during the event. 🚪 Please Note: The shelter will be closed for regular adoption browsing on Friday, August 15, as we will be operating exclusively for the Clear the Shelters event. 📝 We strongly encourage submitting an adoption questionnaire at least 3 days before the event to help speed up the adoption process. 🏠 Some adoptable pets are currently in foster homes. Please check their online profiles before visiting so we can coordinate a meet-and-greet if needed. 🐾 Most pets can go home the same day! However, unaltered animals cannot leave the shelter until they have been spayed or neutered.     Join us for the York County SPCA Dogs' Day Out Presented by Explore York - the first Sunday of every month! More details are available here: Adventure Awaits With Our Dogs' Day Out | York County SPCA How to Sign Up: We post details about each event on our Facebook page several days before. The events fill up quickly, so please follow up and/or opt to get alerts when we post! Complete an application! Once you’ve submitted your application, our canine team will reach out in a few days to confirm your approval and match you with a dog! IF you have a specific dog in mind, please note that on your application. If that pup is already matched, we’ll help you pick another deserving dog for your outing. Dogs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to change (i.e., a dog gets sick, behavior changes, etc.). What Is Dogs’ Day Out? This program lets community members take one of our adoptable dogs out of the shelter for a day filled with fun and exploration! You can: Take them for a hike or a park stroll. Treat them to a pup cup at a drive-thru. Visit a dog-friendly store for a shopping spree. Create your own adventure—the possibilities are endless. Requirements: A reliable vehicle where the dog can be safely restrained or crated for transport. A valid driver’s license to be copied at the shelter. Participants must arrive at 9:00 a.m. at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter – York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406. Basic safety and handling instructions will be provided before you leave. Important Details: Participants will lap around our facility with their assigned dog to ensure comfort and handling. Dogs must be returned to the shelter by 4:00 p.m. After the event, please complete a "Dogs' Day Out" report card to share how your dog enjoyed their adventure.       🎉🐾 Get Inked for Animals! 🐾🎉 We're excited to team up with Westside Ink for our Ink for Animals Tattoo Fundraiser benefiting the York County SPCA! 💉❤️ 📅 Sunday, September 13 🕘 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 📍 Westside Ink | York, PA Whether you choose a flash design or a custom tattoo, your new ink will help give shelter animals a second chance. 🖤 25% of every tattoo will be donated directly to the York County SPCA! 🎨 Flash Tattoos: $100 (30-minute session) 🖊️ Custom Tattoos: $125 (1-hour session) ✨ All available flash tattoo designs can be viewed on the registration form. ⚠️ Appointments are limited! Please only register if you are 100% committed to attending your appointment. No-shows take appointment times away from others who would have loved the opportunity to participate and support the animals. 📅 Scheduling Information: Once registration closes, Westside Ink will contact you directly to schedule your exact appointment time.
