Hi, I’m Howie! I came to the shelter from a large hoarding case, so almost everything about the world is still new to me. At first, I was so scared that I wanted nothing to do with people, but every day I’ve been finding a little more courage. Now I come out from under my bed for my walks, happily sniff around the yard, and have even started accepting gentle pets from people I trust. One of my favorite things has been meeting other dogs—they’ve helped me realize the world isn’t such a scary place, and I seem much more confident when I have a canine friend nearby. Loud noises and unfamiliar situations can still make me nervous, so I’ll need a patient family that understands I may need extra time to settle in. The best part? Every day I get a little braver than the day before.
