    Our shelter is open for public browsing hours Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 12 – 4:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Our shelter is also available by appointment, Sunday – Saturday, from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Every animal at the YCSPCA deserves a loving, permanent home. From our adventurers to our cuddlers and couch potatoes, someone is waiting for you at the York County SPCA.     🏀 March Muttness: FREE Adult Dog Adoptions Presented by Ream Printing Company Inc It’s time for the ultimate adoption showdown! Join the York County SPCA for our annual March Muttness event, where all adult dog adoption fees are waived for one special Saturday only. Our seasoned MVPs are ready to leave the bench and head straight into loving forever homes. Adult dogs often come with established personalities, basic manners, and so much love to give — and during March Muttness, they’re available with a $0 adoption fee. 📅 Event Details Date: Saturday, March 7Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PMLocation: Brougher Companion Animal Shelter3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 How It Works Adult dog adoptions are first come, first served.     🐾 Tails on the Trail 5K  Presented By: Ready & Able 🐾  Saturday, April 4 | WellSpan Park Join the York County SPCA for our inaugural Tails on the Trail 5K, a community-focused run/walk benefiting animals in need. This fun, family-friendly event brings together animal lovers, local businesses, and neighbors for a meaningful morning of movement, compassion, and community impact! Check-in will begin at 8 AM and the post-race after-party will take place at WellSpan Park, while the 5K run/walk itself will take participants onto the scenic York County Rail Trail. Whether you’re running for a personal best, walking with friends, or strolling alongside your leashed pup, all paces are welcome. The race will begin at 9 AM! Every registration will help support the lifesaving work of the York County SPCA and second chances for vulnerable animals in our community. Your participation ensures that dogs, cats, and other animals receive the care they need while they wait for loving homes. Registration Details:  🐾 Early-Bird Registration: February 2 – March 1 | $30 🐾 Regular Registration: March 1 – April 3 | $35 Participants who register early will receive a complimentary event t-shirt, and all registrants are encouraged to fundraise individually or as part of a team to make an even greater impact for animals in need.     Join us for the York County SPCA Dogs' Day Out Presented by Explore York - the first Sunday of every month! More details are available here: Adventure Awaits With Our Dogs' Day Out | York County SPCA How to Sign Up: We post details about each event on our Facebook page several days before. The events fill up quickly, so please follow up and/or opt to get alerts when we post! Complete an application! Once you’ve submitted your application, our canine team will reach out in a few days to confirm your approval and match you with a dog! IF you have a specific dog in mind, please note that on your application. If that pup is already matched, we’ll help you pick another deserving dog for your outing. Dogs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to change (i.e., a dog gets sick, behavior changes, etc.). What Is Dogs’ Day Out? This program lets community members take one of our adoptable dogs out of the shelter for a day filled with fun and exploration! You can: Take them for a hike or a park stroll. Treat them to a pup cup at a drive-thru. Visit a dog-friendly store for a shopping spree. Create your own adventure—the possibilities are endless. Requirements: A reliable vehicle where the dog can be safely restrained or crated for transport. A valid driver’s license to be copied at the shelter. Participants must arrive at 9:00 a.m. at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter – York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406. Basic safety and handling instructions will be provided before you leave. Important Details: Participants will lap around our facility with their assigned dog to ensure comfort and handling. Dogs must be returned to the shelter by 4:00 p.m. After the event, please complete a "Dogs' Day Out" report card to share how your dog enjoyed their adventure.
