The York County SPCA is set to receive a $25,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love to support its lifesaving work for York County pets and pet parents.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested nearly $400 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with more than 6.9 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in the York County SPCA is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a free national lost and found database using photo-matching technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“Petco Love’s partnership means so much for the York County SPCA and our community. One of our mantras here is that surrendering a pet to our shelter should be a “measure of last resort” – meaning, we want to connect folks with as many resources as possible so that they can have a successful pet experience and never have to surrender their pet to us in the first place,” said Steven Martinez, Executive Director of The York County SPCA.
The York County SPCA is dedicated to creating more life outcomes for pets in its community. In 2023, the York County SPCA officially became a no-kill animal shelter, achieving a more than 90% save rate. The organization supports York County pets and pet parents through its many programs and initiatives, including its spay/neuter clinic and pet food pantry. The organization has served York County since 1926 and is York County’s only nonprofit animal shelter.
