Bottle Baby Donation Drive
YOU can help our tiniest felines! The York County SPCA is holding a Bottle Baby Donation Drive April 1 through 7 in preparation for kitten season around the corner!
"Bottle babies" are young kittens who have been orphaned or abandoned by their mother, and therefore, they lack the essential nutrients from her milk and need to be cared for round-the-clock to stabilize their body temperature and be bottle fed.
Shelter staff try to immediately find a partner foster or rescue caregiver when bottle babies are brought in, as most shelters do not have overnight staff to give neonatal kittens the round-the-clock care they need. Also, underaged kittens cannot be vaccinated, therefore they are more susceptible to illnesses in a shelter environment.
We are collecting the following items in the York County SPCA lobby and the East York Petco (located on Eastern Blvd):
- Kitten wet or dry food
- Kitten milk replacement
- Pet safe heating pad
- Feliway spray or plug in
- Litter pans
- Enzyme based cleaners
- Nursing bottles and nipples
- Small kitchen scales
- Cat treats
- Litter scoops
