Grow Your Family for Earth Day: Dog Adoption Event

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than “growing your family?” The York County SPCA is celebrating Earth Day in our own way this year – we are hosting a “Grow Your Family” community and dog adoption event on Sunday, April 21, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

There is sure to be fun for the whole family with this kid-friendly event, including:

• Meet with our Available Dogs! (See below)

• Rock Painting – to encourage creativity and mindfulness.

• Crafting Seed Packets – for you and your family to take with you and plant in your home or garden.

• Learning How You Can Help Our Planet and Own Community – learn about the significance of rescuing animals and reducing pet overpopulation.

Dog Adoption Information:
If you would like to meet with and adopt a dog during this event, please read the following instructions thoroughly.

Please complete a dog adoption questionnaire HERE -> https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/YORK/Dog by Thursday, April 18, to allow our staff ample time to review it and pre-approve you.

Bring all human and k-9 residents in your household to meet our pups! Please leave your dogs in the car with A/C running, if needed, until it is time for your meet. You may walk them around in the grass areas to the right of our building until they are ready for a meet.

All dogs must have a collar and be ON A LEASH. **PLEASE NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES IF POSSIBLE – for the dog meets, slip-lead leashes are preferred.**

When you arrive, visit the welcome/check-in tent before entering the kennel.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN COLLAR AND LEASH IF YOU PLAN ON ADOPTING A NEW DOG! We have limited available for purchase if needed.

If you are interested in more than one dog, please have a list of your top 4-5 DOGS in mind so our staff can better assist you. You can also walk through the kennel to see our available dogs!

Once you enter the shelter, we will have staff and volunteers there to assist you. Most dogs will be available to go home on the event day. However, some may require pick-up on another day if the dog still requires vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and/or necessary medical treatment. Please be patient with our staff and volunteers.

Cashless payments ONLY (for purchasing dog licenses, collars, leashes, etc.).

To view all our available dogs, visit our website HERE -> https://ycspca.org/adopt/available-dogs.html.

Please consider making a lifesaving donation with cash or a card during this event to support the dogs in our care.

Let’s let love grow as we gather for a day of fun celebrating Earth Day!
